For people who doesn't know (can there be anyone possibly out there?) Oshin (おしん) is a Japanese serialized morning television drama, which aired on broadcaster NHK from April 4, 1983 to March 31, 1984 and also aired in 59 countries to this date, with subtitles ranging from English, Hindi to Arabic.
The series follows the life of Shin Tanokura (田倉 しん) during the Meiji period up to the early 1980s. Shin was called "Oshin". In total, 297 15-minute episodes aired. To this date, Oshin holds the record for the highest average rating in Japanese television history (52.6%). It also holds the record for the highest rating of a single episode (62.9%). Only the annual Kohaku Uta-Gassen, and specific special events have scored higher ratings.
